Tufted Duck
Aythya fuligula
The Tufted Duck is a diving duck known for the male’s distinctive black-and-white plumage and long head tuft. Its bright yellow eye stands out against the dark head. Unlike dabbling ducks, it dives underwater to catch mollusks and aquatic insects. It is commonly found on lakes, reservoirs, and urban ponds.
